OH my I just have to share this beautiful DIY body butter or cream however you like to say it! ITs so divine and nourishing especially over the winter days here in France. It has been so crazy windy and as a result - I have lost my voice and have this horrid dry cough! SO not fun!
Yesterday I spent the day inside and got busy with some Christmas gifts. I love homemade gifts and something that is really personal too!
Hope you love it. Feel free to change the oils up..... I choose these oils for the very drying conditions we have had and also I wanted to keep two for me as well!
1.5 oz Virgin Coconut oil
1.5 oz cocoa butter or shea butter (this one I did Shea)
1oz beeswax pastilles or grated beeswax
4 oz almond oil (other options - jojoba oil, argan oil or even apricot kernel)
2 oz olive oil (heavy oil)
9oz distilled water
90 drops of essential oils.
5 x 120ml pots with lid
Labels for naming.
chopsticks for blending (thats what I used) :)
Place all hard oils into a bain maire - (so a small saucepan with simmering water and then hard oils into a bowl that will sit on top and the oils will slowly melt). Stir until oils become clear and melted.
Place soft oils into another bowl. Once Hard oils have melted remove from heat. Slowly pour soft oils into melted oils and stir until smooth. In another bowl pour distilled water, make sure it is at room temperature. When both water and oils are at room temperature we are able to combine them. Do this by slowly pouring in the water and blend at a high speed (kinda like making mayonnaise) Process for a few minutes - you might see it split keep going. You don't want any water left or floating to the top! IT may take up to 5 minutes.
You will feel a change with the blender - it will draw to the bottom of the bowl. You are ready to add your oils! I love to choose my oils intuitively! Maybe for the season as well!
I choose a mix of Frankincense, Helichrysum, Lavender and Geranium for the skin (these oils are incredible for nourishing the skin) and I choose citrus bliss - for the invigoration!
FYI - I only use Doterra essential oils as I believe in their quality and I love that we have a ripple effect with each bottle. Meaning that each bottle helps the farmers or their communities to become a better place! I guess I am very much a conscience consumer!
